Systems Integration

We do this by providing clinicians and patients real time access to a growing list of supported EHR and PAS systems, without compromising on security or safety.

We make data readily available through standard internet APIs abstracting away the complexity of often legacy systems. These APIs can be made available to other third parties our clients choose to work with, enabling powerful features like patient record updates and results notification, alongside integration with other platforms such as Microsoft Teams.

How it works

We have specifically designed a two-way integration engine to extend your existing hospital EHR and PAS platforms and connect them with the devices (mobile, tablet and desktop) most commonly used by both patients and clinical teams.


Incorporating NextGen Connect (fka Mirth), HealthStream is not a replacement for your current TIE, but rather acts as a real-time bridge between your local systems and our secure environment on HSCN.


With native support for all common messaging formats (HL7 2.x and 3.x, delimited text and XML), HealthStream consumes outbound messaging in real time and transforms this data into information that is both logical and patient centric.

HealthStream makes this data accessible to any authorised application, via standard Internet based APIs. Trust IT teams no longer need to manage multiple points of external connectivity or provide separate custom feeds of data.


Where supported, HealthStream can enable write back of data via either API (FHIR fully supported) or inbound HL7 message. This works alongside outbound messaging, to create a fully functioning bi-directional interface – essential for tasks like sheduling appointments.


When combined with EHR platform FHIR APIs, such as Cerner Ignite®, HealthStream enables a world of new possibilities for patients and Trust staff.
