Job Title: Senior UI Designer
Reporting to: General Project Manager
Location: Home based / London
We are looking for an experienced, senior and talented UI designer to design and shape unique, user-centric products and experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced agile environment, interacting with our team of Developers, as well as working closely and directly with the Head of UX and the Product Manager. You will be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction.
This is a standalone role in which you will be expected to design and deploy at pace, as well as coping with complex legacy issues.
-To implement against the UX designs for our product demo, under the direction of our Product team.
-To manage design libraries and design systems with adherence to product branding requirements.
-To actively partner with IG, QA, analytics, product and development teams to evolve understandings of new technologies, ideas and concepts.
-To regularly contribute to quality reviews such as retrospectives and post-mortems for own, and peers’, outputs.
-To independently use internal commercial insight with the latest external thinking to develop, evolve and implement ideas.
-To build and maintain a Global Design System documenting, with examples, these components, based on the Atomic Design methodology.
-To actively seek challenging feedback to work into your own, personal workflow.
-To assist where necessary, in usability testing to help fuel your designs.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who is enthusiastic and who buys into our vision of improving healthcare delivery by providing on the ground professionals with solutions that actually work for them, and that they choose to use every day. You will be instinctively driven towards design that is not only aesthetically pleasing in how it looks and behaves, but that also creates a user experience that is intuitively simple, consistent, and accessible. With this in mind, we are seeking candidates who can demonstrate not only the skill of the tool (preferably Figma) and quality of initial output, but also those who can understand and apply the theory behind their design.
-Experienced knowledge of Figma & Sketch
-Experience of designing mobile and web applications
-Understanding of UX
-Capable of creating user flows and solving UX problems with a minimal design solution
-Experience of design systems and scaling design at a rapid pace
-Practical experience leading the creation of Design Systems through Atomic Design Theory.
-Practical experience in inclusive design, delivering compliant and usable solutions.
-Strong typography, layout and visual design skills.
-Understanding of native app and web-app design principles and standards.
-Some experience of interaction design.
-Working knowledge of HCD, Agile, and Lean Start up methodologies.
-Able to adapt to a fluid environment, where goals evolve as the business reacts to the commercial outlook.
-Expert and nuanced communicator, in written and verbal form.
-Experience with animation
Induction Healthcare Group plc is a leading healthcare technology company that helps healthcare professionals deliver better care more efficiently. Our mission is to give back time to our users. Time for doctors to treat their patients and time for patients to get the treatment they need sooner. From bypassing the hospital switchboard, to ensuring clinical teams know when, where and how they are working, our apps for clinical teams are the most used in the UK. Our relentless focus on simple, but effective solutions – underpinned by sophisticated data integration technology – is helping fuel the inevitable digital transformation of healthcare. It’s about the right people, in the right place, with the right data, at the right time.
Our team of doctors, developers and healthcare technology experts are focused on a common goal to help streamline the delivery of care for all healthcare professionals with simple and effective innovation. We’re fortunate to have attracted some amazing talent from within the NHS – for example, our Chief Medical Officer, Professor Martin Severs, joined us from NHS Digital – balanced with a huge breadth of talent from within the private sector. Our team is led by our joint CEO’s Dr Hugo Stephenson and James Balmain, who have both gained many years of experience within the healthcare technology setting and digital transformation. Hugo has founded several healthcare and biotech services businesses including DrugDev (acquired by IQVIA) MediGuard (owned by IQVIA), Health Research Solutions (acquired by Quintiles, now IQVIA), and MedSeed (acquired by eHealthcare Asia). James has a wealth of NHS facing commercial experience, having co-founded Zesty Limited in 2012, building it into a multi award winning UK digital health company. Prior to Zesty, James was Ecommerce Director at EE, and Head of Ecommerce at the Shop Direct Group.
We believe that the collective experience within our team speaks volumes about how our brand, products and services are perceived both within and beyond the NHS; but most importantly it empowers us with invaluable sector specific insight and knowledge which informs and steers every aspect of what we do, from our sales and marketing approach to our technical development and our implementation strategies. Our broad base of talent empowers us to build products that work for the people using them.
The Group currently has three platforms, Induction and MicroGuide, that support healthcare professionals in multiple markets, including UK, Ireland, Australia and South Africa, plus Zesty, a leading provider of patient portals to NHS hospitals in the UK.
Induction is the number one healthcare collaboration app in the UK. The app helps over 200,000 users – mostly doctors – to increase productivity and enhance communication by securely sharing phone numbers and bleeps, bookmarks, documents and messages in a clinical setting. The MicroGuide platform provides medical organisations with the ability to collaboratively create, edit, and publish their own local medical guidelines in a secure and locally administrated environment. The Induction app is used by the majority of hospital doctors within the NHS. The MicroGuide platform is used by the majority of trusts within the NHS.
Zesty Ltd is a market-leading digital platform for patients visiting hospitals. The Zesty platform enables patients to manage their care direct from their smartphone. The Zesty patient portal removes the friction from everyday health related tasks, like booking and managing appointments, reading letters digitally and sharing copies of electronic medical records. Our clients are hospitals, clinics and general practice surgeries. They pay us an annual SaaS fee or a fee per patient. Alongside a compelling patient experience, the Zesty portal delivers significant cost benefits to hospitals and offers:
After building initial traction with a number of NHS Hospitals, we now have 17 NHS Clients using our award-winning platform, 7 Acute NHS Trusts and 10 Primary Care, Community & Sexual Health providers. We’ve got aggressive plans for growth, through the delivery of an ambitious product roadmap. 2020 was a landmark year for Zesty, notably our acquisition by Induction Healthcare Group plc in the summer, and our recently announced strategic collaboration with Cerner Corporation (Nasdaq: CERN), a global health care technology company. Zesty and Cerner will develop a joint patient engagement solution to help NHS trusts deliver an easier, quicker and more efficient service for patients. This collaboration will closely align existing patient facing technology in the UK and Ireland, building on the benefits of Cerner’s patient portal solution HealtheLife and Zesty’s integration capability with Cerner’s electronic health record (EHR), Cerner Millennium®, and providing staff and patients with world class digital tools to manage their care and operate more efficiently in the current environment of rapidly changing and unfamiliar conditions.
